Citation Jet Pilots – Website and Forum Terms of Use

The Citation Jet Pilots, Inc. Owner Pilot Association (“CJP”) website and forums (“CJP Services”) are in place for use by CJP members and partners as an aviation focused platform to further CJP’s mission pillars of safety, advocacy, fellowship and philanthropy. The CJP Services are intended to provide a civil and tolerant means for members to post aviation related topics, questions and information for discussion and advancement of aviation knowledge in the safe and enjoyable operation of Citation jet aircraft. CJP believes a hostile and intolerant environment within the CJP Services is contrary to our fellowship and counterproductive to encouraging and sustaining open, healthy aviation learning. To help ensure the CJP Services meet the objectives of CJP and its membership, CJP has adopted these Terms of Use and Code of Conduct.

CJP Services participants should keep foremost in mind civility and tolerance towards the views of others and that CJP is dedicated to Citation owner operators and their safe and enjoyable operation of Citation jet aircraft. While the primary focus of the CJP Services is for CJP member benefit on Citation related aviation topics, CJP recognizes that such topics often generate other, broader policy discussions which are sometimes political or societal in nature. CJP intends discussions of this nature to occur on, or get moved to, the World Views forum which is in a restricted access area of the forums. Members must opt-in to participate in the World Views forum; to opt-in to subscribe to the World Views forum, you must be logged into the CJP website and then click https://www.citationjetpilots.com/forum/subscribe

Code of Conduct: The CJP Services Code of Conduct is based on common sense notions of good manners and mutual respect. Respect for fellow members and posters on our forums means accepting that others may have strongly held views that differ from yours. Name calling, taunting, and trolling are not acceptable. By way of example and not in limitation, you agree that by accessing the CJP Services you are expressly bound by each of the following and that you will not:

  • Defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten, act in an uncivil manner, including making derogatory, vulgar, slanderous, hateful or sexually offensive statements, or violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others.
  • Publish, post, upload, distribute, or disseminate any inappropriate, profane, defamatory, infringing, obscene, indecent topic, name, material, or information.
  • Upload files that contain software or other material protected by intellectual property laws (or by rights of privacy or publicity) unless you own or control the rights thereto or have received all necessary consents.
  • Upload files that contain viruses, corrupted files, or any other similar software or programs that may damage the operation of another's computer.
  • Advertise or offer to sell or buy any goods or services for any business purpose, unless your sponsorship arrangement with CJP specifically allows such messages.
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations in connection with the CJP Services.

Constructive debate involves reasoning with others towards a search for truth. Simple concepts help in that process. For example, if you claim that something's a fact, back it up with a source. When evidence of your claim is requested, you can either provide evidence or retract your claim. If you can't produce evidence when someone asks you to cite your sources, we may remove your posts. If you started the thread, then we may remove or close the thread.

Discipline: CJP intends to use a progressive discipline process in connection with enforcement of the Terms of Use and Code of Conduct. When CJP in its sole discretion determines a violation of the Terms of Use including the Code of Conduct has occurred, CJP intends to take the following steps:

  1. A first violation will trigger the prompt removal of the author’s post while subsequently notifying the author of the basis for removal.
  2. A second violation by the same author, or a first violation which is egregious, will include the steps applicable to a first violation and will result in the author losing access to CJP Services for 60 days.
  3. Finally, and potentially in the first instance for egregious cases, a third violation will include the actions for a first violation and will also result in expulsion of the member from CJP. An expelled member forfeits all membership privileges including access to CJP Services.

CJP has no obligation to monitor the forums at any frequency or resource level. It does not intend to make public announcements about disciplinary actions under the Terms of Use. The presence of historical posts which may violate the Terms of Use does not justify or mitigate any future violation.

Limitations: Every member or other person using the CJP Services agrees to access, post, send, and receive messages and material that are proper and consistent with the Terms of Use. CJP reserves the right in its sole discretion to (a) discontinue, modify or expand the CJP Services at any time, (b) to change the Terms of Use at any time, (c) to ban or suspend any user with or without cause, (d) to change or modify or deviate from the progressive discipline policy described in the Terms of Use or (e) remove, edit, move or close any post, topic or forum at any time.

CJP Services consisting of messages or chats on forums express solely the views of the author and do not reflect and are not the views of CJP unless specifically stated by authorized representatives of CJP. The staff, officers, directors and other members of CJP are not responsible for the content of any message not authored by them in their official capacity. CJP reserves the right at all times to disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to edit, refuse to post, or to remove any information or materials, in whole or in part, in CJP's sole discretion. Advice received via the CJP Services should not be relied upon for personal, medical, legal, or financial decisions and you should consult an appropriate professional for specific advice tailored to your situation.

CJP makes no representations about the suitability, reliability, availability, timeliness, and accuracy of the information, software, products, services, and related graphics contained on the CJP Services for any purpose. All such information, software, products, services, and related graphics are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. CJP hereby disclaims all warranties and conditions with regard to this information, software, products, services, and related graphics, including all implied warranties and conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

In no event shall CJP be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special, consequential damages, or any damages whatsoever including, without limitation, damages for loss of use, data, or profits, arising out of or in any way connected with the use or performance of the CJP Services, with the delay or inability to use the CJP Services or related services, the provision of or failure to provide services, or for any information, software, products, services, and related graphics obtained through the CJP Services, or otherwise arising out of the use of the CJP Services, whether based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or otherwise, even if CJP has been advised of the possibility of damages. Because some states/jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, the above limitation may not apply to you. If you are dissatisfied with any portion of the CJP Services, or with any of these terms of use, your sole and exclusive remedy is to discontinue using the Services.
